Wang Shenchao, also known as "The Dragon King" and "The Great General", was one of the most famous Chinese military heroes during the late Qing Dynasty. He was born in 1844 in the town of Changshu, Jiangsu Province, and later became a general in the Qing Army.

One of his most significant achievements was defending Shanghai Port from foreign invasions during the Taiping Rebellion. In 1862, when the Taiping Rebellion broke out, Wang Shenchao led his troops to defend the port against the rebels' attacks.
