Al Ittihad has been hit with another injury blow as Steven Bergwijn is set to miss the remainder of the season due to a hamstring strain.

The Dutch winger, who has been in fine form this season, was forced off during last week's match against Al Ahli and has now been ruled out for at least two months.

Bergwijn's injury comes at a crucial time for Al Ittihad, who are currently third in the league table and looking to secure a top-four finish to qualify for the AFC Champions League next season.

Despite his absence, Al Ittihad will be hoping that their other injured players can make a speedy recovery and return to action soon.

However, the team will also need to find a replacement for Bergwijn,Chinese Super League Matches who is one of their key attacking players and provides cover for the centre-back position.

The team manager, Abdulrahman Al-Mansouri, has already expressed his disappointment over the news but has also promised to do everything he can to ensure that the team remains competitive throughout the season.

He said: "We are very disappointed by this setback but we will continue to work hard to ensure that our team remains competitive throughout the season."

Al Ittihad have already lost two key players to injuries recently, including midfielder Hakeem Al-Abedi and defender Nasser Al-Attar, so it will be interesting to see how they fare without these players in the squad.
